Recently, I had the distinct honor of being honored at the 2026 NJFO Gala for my service to the New Jersey Festival Orchestra—an organization that has long exemplified the power of music to enrich lives and strengthen community. What began as a commitment to board service evolved into a deeply meaningful journey of stewardship, collaboration, and advocacy for the arts. I am pleased to share the remarks I delivered on this occasion, reflecting on that experience and on the enduring importance of supporting cultural institutions in our communities.

Good evening,
I am deeply honored—and truly humbled—to stand before you tonight. To be recognized by an organization that has meant so much to me, both personally and professionally, is something I will always cherish.
My journey with the New Jersey Festival Orchestra began, as many meaningful journeys do, somewhat unexpectedly. What started as an opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors soon became something far more profound—a commitment to an institution whose mission speaks directly to the power of music to elevate, connect, and inspire.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of working alongside extraordinary individuals—fellow board members, dedicated supporters, and, of course, the remarkable musicians who bring this organization to life. Each of you contributes to something larger than any one of us: a shared belief that great music is not a luxury, but a necessity in a vibrant and humane society.
I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the leadership that has guided this orchestra so brilliantly—particularly Maestro David Wroe. His artistry, vision, and unwavering commitment to excellence have not only shaped the orchestra’s identity but have elevated its standing in the broader cultural community. It has been a privilege to support his work and to witness firsthand the transformative impact of his leadership.
For me, supporting the arts has never been simply about philanthropy—it is about stewardship. It is about ensuring that future generations have the same opportunity to experience the beauty, discipline, and emotional depth that music provides. In a world that often moves too quickly, where attention is fragmented and noise is constant, orchestral music reminds us to listen—truly listen—not only to the music, but to one another.
My involvement with the orchestra has also reinforced something I have come to believe strongly: that institutions like this do not thrive on talent alone. They depend on community—on individuals who give their time, their resources, and their passion to sustain something enduring. Tonight’s recognition, while deeply appreciated, is really a reflection of that collective effort.
I also want to express my gratitude to the many friends and colleagues who have shared this journey with me. Your encouragement, collaboration, and friendship have enriched my experience immeasurably. And to the supporters and patrons of the orchestra—your commitment ensures that this extraordinary work continues.
On a personal note, I have always believed that the arts occupy a unique place in our lives. They challenge us, comfort us, and connect us across boundaries that might otherwise divide us. To play even a small role in sustaining that tradition has been one of the great privileges of my life.
As I look to the future, I remain optimistic—and energized—about what lies ahead for the New Jersey Festival Orchestra. With continued support and shared purpose, I have no doubt that its best days are still to come.
