Message From the Internet Society:
As 2023 comes to a close, we’re thinking a lot about what lies ahead for 2024. How many of the 2.6 million people who are unconnected get Internet access next year? How many of the threats to the Internet from governments and corporations around the world be mitigated?
Luckily for us—and the Internet—you’re a part of our global community and you have the power to make a difference. Here are some of the ways you can impact the growth and protection of the Internet next year:
Get involved locally
To make changes globally, we need to start locally. Internet Society chapters globally are running initiatives to make changes in their region. Attend local events and meetups of technical groups. You can be the voice of the Internet in your community.
Use your voice
Share the work you do and the work of the Internet Society to your networks! Tell family, friends, and anyone who will listen about why the Internet is important and what we can all do to make sure it’s a resource for everyone, everywhere. Promote our 2024 Action Plan and follow us on social media. If we all tell just one more person about the Internet and the Internet Society, that’s thousands of potential new Internet advocates!
No matter what way you choose to get involved next year, we’re appreciative that you’re here with us. We couldn’t go against the many threats to the Internet or improve access globally without every single one of our community members.
